OWH MWT: Birthday

My inspiration for this week's card was to use the polka dot chipboard frame.  It just seemed to scream "Happy Birthday" to me.  I usually only make birthday cards for friends and family as OWH usually has enough.  I popped up the circle.  The outside edge is pierced to add some additional interest.  I am kinda on a frame kick as my Secret Santa sent me a package of the little ones that have metal borders and I have been working them into some cards...

OWH Design Bootcamp: Color

I decided to go monochromatic with my favorite color which happens to be the color of one of my favorite foods, chocolate.  I started with a piece of scrap kraft and decided to create my own background by stamping a doily.  I was worried about being perfect on my stamping.  It took several tries to come close and then I ended up covering most of it up, so why was I so worried?  Image is by Rubber Stampede.  Sketch by me.

OWH Sketch 157

Yes, this is a scrap card, except the black cardstock for matting.  I found another box that had some scraps.  I may have to stretch out my scrap cards to another month, because I have some great stuff to use up.  My mojo has just been flowing as I am working though my piles.

Papers by CTMH and Memory Makers; image by Tim Holtz and sentiment by CTMH.  I always admire a good flip of the sketch so I decided to try it this week.  I miscut the image paper and liked the size so I kept it.

I did finally get  around to making my light box using Paula's instructions.  I had a slight different sized foam board and used some T pins to hold it together rather than glue.  It was uber easy!  Thanks Paula!!!  Now, I just need to learn to use my camera better and I will be set.

Heart Card

I decided to combine two challenges in one card:  Addicted to CAS: Heart and Sweet Stampin' Challenge: Ribbon.  I just bought Papercrafts 75 Creative Card Challenges magazine this morning, which gave me the idea for the ribbon heart.  The staples are a quirky fun touch.

OWH MWT: Easter

Still working on using up those "scraps".  I realize that I need to decide what I am going to do with them at the end of the month.  I have purchased three new 6x6 pads that are waiting in the wings.  Stickers by Bo Bunny and I am planning to finish the sheet this week and move on to other stuff.

OWH Sketch #156

Fun sketch as always...  I am not really a horse person...I have fallen off one too many times when I was young.  However, there are many horse lovers out there and this one is for them!  Image  can be found here:  B & P Horse.  I did not feel like coloring this am so I decided to print on kraft.  All other paper was from my scrap pile.  Sentiment is computer generated.

SSC & OWH MWT

Today I am combining two challenges into one card; Sweet Stampin' Challenge: Time for some gingham and OWH MWT: Show us your green.  I am challenging myself to only use scraps for cards for the entire month of January; so far so good because this card is all scraps except the white.  Image is a freebie by Whimsie Doodles; isn't it(she) simply adorable and perfect for OWH cards?!!!
I layered some sticker buttons on top of the ones I punched out of packaging flatboard from some scrapbook company.  The flatboard has a little more dimension  than paper plus this has a pattern.  I did tilt it all for a little more interest.

OWH Sketch #155

Wowzers...what a sketch!  I have to admit it threw me for a loop as I do not have anything but my scissors to cut an oval with. Putting my brain on overload I finally decided to use a print for the oval.  My goal for the month of January is to use only scraps (except good ole cardstock when needed) for all my cards.  I want to see what a dent I can make in the piles.  I dug around and found this car paper which has also befuddled me for possible uses.  The sentiment is computer generated and the brad is by Teresa Collins.

ATCAS: Embossed

I needed a sympathy card and this digi by Birds Cards just seemed to fit.  While I was coloring I noticed that another one of my Copics needs refilled.   The embossing folder is by Spellbinders.  I made this card to fit the Addicted to CAS: Get Embossed challenge.  Have a great day!

Playing with Birdie Brown...

I had fun making this card using the Birdie Brown Amigurumi Bear.  Isn't he sweet?  Thanks Torico!  I dug through my scraps box, as I am committed to only using scrap designer paper for the entire month of January.  I really want this pile to get smaller.                                                                        I had this idea to use twine for the balloon strings to add a little pizazz.  When I was coloring him I realized that I need to refill at least one of my Copics...  Ordering refills is next on my to-do list.

Playing Catch Up...

I am a little behind posting my MWT cards; like three weeks worth...ackkk!  The frog card was made for the Miss You challenge.  The card uses paper and felt image from my Secret Santa Ann M and I geared it to the young at heart.                                                                              My second card is for the Spring Flowers challenge where I used diecuts form K&Co(?) and layered everything.  I used adhesive foam to pop out the butterfly wings and keep them from getting squished.  I also used some Liquid Pearls and inked all the edges.                                                   My last card was one I made last week after seeing Jan's fabby idea on Triple Time Matting to use up scrap papers. My prediction is that this will be as big as the pinwheel and sunburst!  Last week after Sandy posted the link on FB, I rocked out 5 cards using scrap papers and hoarded stickers.  I altered the green matting under the deer image as I did not have a big enough piece but enough to make it work.  Another alteration I made to the idea for this card was to use 2 pattern papers as they are both tone on tone and mix very well.  I am super happy to be officially caught up!

OWH Sketch 154 & ODBD Cards

Okay...I give in to Blogger tech difficulties; just happy I got my pictures loaded.  My post will be a little wonky...but it is all good.  I am a mission to use scraps again...did you see Jan's post on Triple Time Cards?  That post started "the using or purging" for real.  I am hoping to link up some of those later.  For my sketch card I used Paula's compass digi that goes to well with the sentiment by SU that is one of my favs.  All the papers were used from "the heap".  Great sketch Bobbi!  Lucky you to be chosen first!  Well Done Marlene on your first post!
This second card is for the January 2013 ODBD Challenge:  Dry Embossing.  This is one of two cards I made for my uncle's Card Shower.  Embossing folder by Spellbinders.  I used brads in a circle similar to one I saw in my journey through the OWH 2012 Top Ten Linky Party.  Sorry, I cannot remember who I CASEd, but it was a brilliant idea.  Thanks!!!  The numbers are stickers and sentiment by Hero Arts.  This is the card I think my mom will pick just because it says 80.

SSC: White/Cream + One Other

My uncle is celebrating his 80th birthday with a surprise Card Shower.  I decided that this week's Sweet Stampin' Challenge theme would work perfectly:  White/Cream and One Other.  I chose brown as my one other color.  He still has a small herd of cows so this image by CTMH is perfect.  I did make a second card (next post) as my parents need one also.

My Top 10 OWH Cards For 2012

VCMP#6
When I heard OWH was having a Top Ten Party I was super excited. It is fun to go back and revisit your work.  Learning to color with Copics in 2012 was my greatest accomplishment in card making.  I also sent 720 cards to OWH last year which is 100 more than last year.  WooHoo!

I only had one card that I just could not figure out where it was posted or what challenge.  There is no particular order to these top ten.

Which is your favorite and why?  Answer that and leave your email in the comment and I will put you in the drawing for a free Christmas stamp set that I happen to have an extra.
