The Male Room: Create Your Own Background

Another great challenge at The Male Room.  I used a "new to me" stamp set from Mark's Finest Papers.  Background was created using the wood grain technique by Gina K.  Pattern papers were from my scrap pile.

Cards in Envy: Puppy Love

Being a dog lover, the current challenge at Cards in Envy: Puppy Love is one that was super fun for me to join.  Image is by Heidi Arrowood at 2 Cute Ink; sentiment by CTMH.  Other papers were from my massive scrap stash.

OWH MMT: Cards for Kids

Here is my card for the current OWH Challenge: Cards for Kids.  Background was created by playing around with my Tim Holtz Distress Inks, which ended up being a one layer card for a boy.  I was hoping the sentiment has a little Dr Suess flair to it.  Stamps used  are CTMH and TPC Studio.

ATCAS #57: Mask

Addicted to CAS has quite a challenging theme for me this time around.  I have been playing around with "watercoloring" and decided to try something a little out of the box.  I made numerous attempts with masking paper and fussycutting that did not pan out.  I ended up using circles punched out of blue painter's tape to create the needed masks for the mums (Stamps of Life).  Tim Holz Distress Inks were used to create the watercolor background and most of the stamping.

Cardz 4 Guyz: Oriental

When the new challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz was posted, I had to take some time and mull over how I wanted to approach the theme of Oriental.  Since most of my cards get sent to OWH, I wanted to make a card that works for one of their five themes.  I decided upon a lucky "love" theme.

The image is by 2 Cute Ink; sentiment is computer generated to meet OWH's needs.  Paper is by Basic Grey and Pink Paislee.

OWH Sketch #248

I ended up making two cards from this great sketch inspired by Coni; it can be found here.  The  first card features the Whimsy Stamps balloon die in place of the circles and a sentiment from a dollar bin.  The string is actually upholstery thread as it is thicker than normal thread but not as thick as twine.

The second card features a Stamps of Life sentiment and some orphaned stamps as well as a watercolor background.  I thought I would add a few Mom cards to my OWH box as the deadline will be here before I know it.

Cardz 4 Guyz: Puppy Love

My blog friend Diane posted a sweet Puppy card for the current challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz.  I love a great pet card so I decided to play along.  Image is by Heidi at 2 Cute Ink.  I had purchased this sweet Pug for a birthday card for a nephew who loves this breed.  Sentiment is by Stampin' Up along with a Whimsy Stamps birthday die. Papers are Studio Calico and scraps.

Deedee's Digis

Here is my card for the current change at Deedee's Digis.  I was inspired by Carol's card and her use of  the brick embossing folder.  Circles were made using La La Land Crafts dies.  It was a easy card to assemble once I decided where I was going with it.

Cards in Envy & The Male Room

It is that time of year where hearts really shine, so I was not surprised when Cards in Envy and The Male Room both have challenges that involve hearts.  I decided to CASE a card I had made a couple of years ago.  I used the same image and layout but changed the papers to the Little Yellow Bicycle Love Letters.  Image is from Spyder's Corner.

Lucky...

Gotta love it when a cute digi and great sketch meet as in the case of this card.  Image was a freebie from Heidi Arrowood at 2 Cute Ink and the sketch is from Leslie at The Crooked Stamper who started her own sketch challenge.  I am also linking this card up with the monthly OWH ODBD challenge; the theme is animals.  Papers are Little Yellow Bicycle, Studio Calico, and Neenah.  Sentiment was computer generated and perfect for my OWH box.

OWH: Team Colors

Well the Big Game is over, but I wanted to share my card for the OWH Team Colors challenge. My colors are yellow & blue; to celebrate where my nieces and nephews went to school.  I got to try out some new dies; the birthday is by Mama Elephant as well as the bunny image. The balloons are by Whimsy Stamps.

ATCAS & W2SB

The current challenge at Words 2 Scrap By is "to Do Something Different" perfect for pushing me to try the watercolor technique that Kristina Werner featured on her blog.  Addicted to CAS has a new challenge; "Hug & Kisses that I really wanted to try this technique for.  I used a CTMH stamp set that I recently purchased in a grab box and a Fiskars sentiment.  It is a fun to play with the inks and it really creates a subtle background.  I taped the paper to a 9x12 aluminum pan lid as a work area.  After I was done adding ink, I dried it with my heat gun and it returned to it's original flatness...amazing!
