OWH Sketch #58

Okay-I really love this sketch and I knew immediately what stamps I was going to use; CTMH Sweet Love. Kris said she needed love you cards, which totally fits with the stamps. I must be thinking of sunshine and green grass because those are the colors I picked. The sketch is:

OTWC Challenge #47

When I was a youngster I talked my mom into painting my room the dark purple, after a couple of years we changed it to the light purple, how ironic for me.

As a challenge to myself, I tried to take ribbon and twist it into a rosette. The new glue gun I had bought stopped working almost immediately after I opened it, so I went a different route. I did try to "punch" the ribbon with a scalloped edge circle that did not cut but gave it a distressed edge after I hand cut it. My new favorite thing is to stamp images on white flowers to fit with the card. I usually use a small heart or something swirly. I decided to use a small circle, not sure if I really like the results, but hey it is done. The journey is really where it is at, right?

I used Heidi Grace Designs for the sentiment; Sabrina Making Memories Paper Edges; and Making Memories Blossoms/Paper Leaves. The rest is leftover stash items.

OTWC Challenge #46

My card for this challenge is CAS. I had a little problem with the stamp turning down at the end. I knew I had only one chance and did not notice it when I stamped my test run. Absolutely love the colors. Supplies: October Afternoon, Cosmo Cricket, Paper Studio, Autumn Leaves Ribbon, and stamp by Cloud 9. I am not sure where the heart button is from. I am going to give this to my niece who turns 22 this month.

MWT Challenge Any Occasion Challenge

The challenge this week is to make any occasion cards for our heroes to send home to their friends and loved ones. They could have no sentiment at all on your card front or a possible idea for a sentiment might be, Hello, Just Checking In, etc.

I already had a card made that I wanted to share that is pretty simple and male teen/tween oriented. I did enhance the grunge on the edge with ink and put two stamps together in the circle. The blue is embossed cardstock that was a piece of scrap that added a little pop of color and texture. I am loving everyone else's cards with embossing.

S&S Sketch Challenge #57

I had already been working on Mother's Day cards for OWH in pink and turquoise. I decided to make some cards in green and purple as well which really fit for the challenge. I started out with this wonderful butterfly Solo stamp from Michaels. I really liked it because it had a button shape for part of the image. I used the stamped button holes as my guide to punch holes for the jute to go through. The jute is purple to match the challenge card. I hope it does not create too many problems for the shipper, but I really liked the bow. I saved two of the pink cards for our mothers for this year. It feels good to be ahead for once!

OWH-MWT

The challenge this week is a Masculine themed challenge; to make cards for our heroes to send home to the men and boys in their lives. Well, I had already challenged myself to make more male oriented cards, so I already had some made. When I looked at them for the challenge, I decided that a couple needed "a little more love". This is one of the cards I reworked by stamping stars on the green using Jim Holtz Distress Ink and adding to the edges of the blue with a paintbrush.

The new card I made is pretty simple, but has quite a bit of visual punch. I did stamp the camouflage on printed paper from the Hey Dude Glitz Pack.

OWH S&S Sketch 56

Well it is that time again for a try at a new sketch. I guess I was feeling a little "springy" because I went for some bright colors. I also wanted to challenge myself to using a stamp for the focal point. I am not big into stamping, even though I own a few. All the paper is from "My Mind's Eye". I had read on someone else's blog how they used the punched circles out of special paper to create bling. I would give a shout out if I could remember where it was I saw it. I did not own anything shiny, so I used Aleene's Paper Glaze to add some glam to circles punched from the paper I used. I think the stamp is from STUDIO112. Anyway, thanks for looking!

OWH Red, White, Blue, and Kraft

Sorry about the poor lighting. The circle is really a white background, I promise! I made a card similar to this once before without using the kraft paper which is now one of my favorite cardstock "colors". Reminds me when I made my own wrapping paper and stamping images I cut out of wood on to it ever so many years ago. I thought the dark blue card base would make the whole thing "pop" I love the star punch for the middle, it is from "All Night Media" and to think I found it for a $1.00. Anyway, thanks for looking.

OWH S&S Sketch Challenge #55

I used Close To My Heart paper and inks for this challenge. Was going for more of a masculine theme. Been organizing my scrap (crap) supplies/space and feeling a little/lot overwhelmed from that, so making a few cards was a welcomed break.

Frame Redo

My sister wanted me to decorate a frame for her with a cat theme to go into her living room. I bought this frame at my local Super $ Store which sells a lot of closeout items. My only rule for myself was to not purchase anything new. Her cat's name is Pumpkin (nickname Punk) and she was found abandoned in a neighbor's yard. She wormed her way into my sis's heart. Isn't she cute?!

She was so happy with the result that she now wants to redo frames as Christmas presents for her friends this year.

OWH-"On The Farm" MWT Challenge

http://www.owhstarsandstamps.org/2011/02/on-farm-mwt-challenge.html

I made two cards for this challenge. One took way less time than the other. I am sure you can figure out which. I grew up on a farm and had chores to do every day, so of course I really like this challenge! I still have to pick which one to link to...

After uploading the pics I realized that the pig in the first one should be facing the other way to direct the eye inward. I did not realized that I had pigs facing both ways on the paper so I could have made it right in the first place. Oh well, a lesson well-learned and it makes my choice much easier. Papers by jillibean SOUP and Bella BLVD, as well as a little "scrap".
