OWH Sketch #97

I think I made this sketch harder than it needed to be...but it was a challenge after all.

It is hard to see but I did fussy cut and pop out the hearts on the top block for dimension as well as the hearts and leaves in the others. I thought about adding ink stitching to each block. I tried it with white, which did not show up so I had to start over...don't really want to do that again!

SSC: Punches & Dies

I made one card but I did not think it was good enough (not enough stamping) for the challenge so I started over. If you want to play along please go to http://sweetstampinchallengeblog.blogspot.com/2011/11/punches-dies.html. My digi was made by Paula and can be found here: http://paulaposts.blogspot.com/2011/04/free-digi-and-more-dad-cards.html. The sentiment is by Stampin Up and I was lucky to find it at my local Goodwill. I knew it would be perfect with Paula's digi which is one of my favorites (easy to color and great for guy cards!). I had been looking for a Cricut cartridge to use for card making. I think I found a winner!

OWH: More love cards...

Two love cards...at the opposite ends of the spectrum...one silly...one not. I am packing up my last box of cards for 2011...need to meet the 11/30/2011 Any Hero Christmas deadline and the 12/10/2011 Archway Challenge deadline. Wow...it will be time to start Mother's Day Cards.

OWH MWT: Love You

I have been working on Love cards for a couple of weeks. These are a few of my favorites.

MFW: Rustic Red

I went uber CAS for this challenge. I love rustic country; whites, linens, woods, and a happy punch of dark red. All of which inspired me to make this little love card for OWH. If you want to play please go here:

SSC: Happy 2nd Birthday!

Surprise! Yes I even surprised myself. I like a little bling now and then but I wanted to push myself a little further! My card is 5x7 which gave me a little more room to work with. I even used pink...gasp! ;)

I am linking to: http://sweetstampinchallengeblog.blogspot.com/2011/11/2nd-birthday.html Hope their birthday is uber fantastic!

OWH Sketch Challenge #96

I looked at this sketch and thought no prob, until I was going through my stickers for a little inspiration and realized that the ones I was interested in using would not work. I finally decided on the house and using the sentiment you see here. I kept wanting to use pink as an accent color but I was going for a more universal appeal so I chose the blue.

I recently bought a Sweet Nectar solid mat pad from K&Company. It has just enough visual texture to make me happy but appears as a solid. 72 double sided sheets of yummy colors great for layering (matting)!

Just because...

I decided I needed to challenge myself today so I made a CASE card. This card is based upon the one on page 70 of the January 2011 Scrapbook Trends Cards magazine by Mandy Starner. It is fun take on a ruffle card! I am not super happy with the stitching but it does add a little something. I think I need to add some liquid pearls to this. . .

MFW Tuesday Trigger Fall Is in the Bag

Not sure what I was thinking when I started this card, but halfway through the process I actually started liking it. I used my EK punch for some of the circle stripes and used up some old circle borders for the rest. I was inspired by the colors and diagonal linear circles (is that a real concept?).

One of my fav parts is the little sentiment and the fact that I put it in the upper left corner which I absolutely never do. I have some of the teal paper which backs the sentiment as well and did not want it to get "lost", hence the placement. Gotta love a challenge!

Due date for this challenge is 11/20/2011 so you have time to join: http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/11/tuesday-trigger-fall-is-in-bag.html

OWH MWT Any Occasion No Sentiment

I kinda have a thing for owls...they are so darn cute. I had this cute owl paper and a very cute digi from Dawn Moore that can be found here: http://lostinpaperscraps.blogspot.com/2011/10/free-digital-owl-day-2.html. Thanks Dawn!

I found it via Free Digital Stamps. What a wonderful blog! I did add a paper border on top of the ribbon to give the card a little extra pop of color.

MFW: Championing Award Medallions Challenge

No one deserves an award medallion more than our military personnel overseas. To leave everything they love so they can protect it is a true sacrifice.

This is an AnyHero card made for Operation Write Home. I had bought this GI Joe streamer paper a couple of months ago because I thought I could use it in this fashion. Once I started on the card it all went pretty fast. I especially love that I got to make a square card because AnyHero Cards can be any size or shape.

I am linking this up to http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2011/11/championing-award-medallions-challenge.html. It is not an unusual use of a medallion, but using streamer paper is a little unusual.

OWH Sketch #95

When I saw this sketch I knew it would be the perfect excuse to use a couple of eyelets because it would be a "guy" card. I noticed that others wrapped their bow around the piece which I also really liked, but I hardly ever use eyelets so I stuck with my plan. I had a free football "poster" that seemed perfect except it was too big and I was unable to resize to fit the sketch. I worked a little magic in MSPub to create a similar digi. I love it especially because of the colors and textures. It could easily be made into a particular team's colors which I may do in the future for special friends and family members.

Sweet Stampin' Challenge: Gingham

I ran across this challenge on Holley's blog and decided to give it a whirl. This sweet digi was made by Beccy and can be found here: http://beccysplace.blogspot.com/2011/09/link-up-for-pink.html. I had to use my hexi punch just because I love it so much! To join the challenge: http://sweetstampinchallengeblog.blogspot.com/2011/11/going-gorgeously-gingham.html

OWH-Basic Grey Card

This week has been crazier than most and I think the only card I made was the the MWT Love card. Making cards is my stress reliever so not having time to create is not a good thing!

I am still trying to hop but I thought I would take a little break and make a card using some of the beautiful papers from Basic Grey. I love the visual texture on their "plain" papers; very subtle. I found this stamp when I was sorting earlier today...I had forgotten that I had it. A great birthday saying for sure.

Looking forward to tomorrow's sketch as we inch our way to 100!

OWH MWT Valentine/Love

I have been making waaaayyyy too many pink cards lately so I wanted to use a different color combo for this challenge. Plus I bought some new 6x6 In My Mind's Eye Christmas Pads from Crafty Steals I was dying to cut into. Love that they have two sides. I also remembered that I had downloaded a wonderful digi from Little Scraps of Heaven via Free Digital Stamps. That site rocks!!! I think that this digi is just way too darn cute! Here is the link: http://lshdesigns.blogspot.com/2011/01/heart-gumball-machine-digi-stamp-free.html. I was racking my brain for a sentiment when the song "you are just a love machine" popped in my head. Used my computer, (Wish I was taller) font and a little paper punch. SHHH! I may make one of these for my DH. I think he would love it!

Happy Birthday

My "baby" nephew will be 18 years old tomorrow! Where has the time gone? Here is the card I made for him. Hope his day rocks!

OWH Sketch #94

I started out with the purpose of making a "guy" card with this challenging sketch. Seongsook's three wonderful samples made it look easy. I beg to differ...but it got me thinking.
I found the road map paper and thought to myself I really need some cars. No stamps in the stash that will work, but hey I found some cute Basic Grey stickers. Love using the hexagon punch and it works so well in this theme. I could have spread the cars out but I liked them grouped together...more visual punch.

MFW: Tuesday Trigger Beads & Baubles

Okay...maybe I went too Crisp and Clean but I like it. I was inspired by the beads in the picture and decided to sew beads on my card. I used to sew beads on clothing so this is not new for me. It would have been so much easier just to glue bling on but the silk turquoise thread used to sew on the pink seed beads adds some more visual interest to the card. I love the deep gold color; it is almost the color of my laundry room. The sentiment was a free digi from Renate at http://hobby-paleis.blogspot.com. I found it awhile back so it may no longer be available.

ODBD Monthly Challenge-OWH

Our Daily Bread Designs will be hosting a monthly challenge for OWH and have committed to making a shipping donation based upon participation. They will sponsor one large box of cards for every 25 cards linked to the challenge post, with a maximum of 2 boxes per month. How cool is that!

Here is my "love" card. I used my frog because I put a strip of the green paper on the inside to accent the edging of the pre-made card base. While the background wording is sideways, I like to think of it as vertical stripes to offset the horizontal stripes in the musical paper and the sentiment. It is hard to see but I did use liquid pearls on the paper lace. Gotta love that they make great accents without some of the problems of rhinestones or pearls.

Paper Smooches Free Digi

I love Paper Smooches! Kim Hughes has such a fun and quirky style that I aspire to acquire. She is having a random drawing for two "luckies" who will win "Santa Paws". Here is the link: http://papersmooches.blogspot.com/2011/11/our-newest-digi.html

This card is a version of a card I posted much earlier but using the free digis. I did have to crank up my brain a little to figure out where the "for you" should print out. I fussy cut the boxes and bows out of some bright colors to pop off the kraft paper. Since the deadline is past for Christmas for OWH, I am going to use this as either an AnyHero Christmas card or for a friend.

OWH MWT Inspirational Challenge

I looove this week's challenge; something different and more challenging! I have paper that kinda resembles the shirt but I decided to use stamps to create my own background. I used three different stamps in three different colors. Don't think I have done that before! I added some liquid pearls on top as an accent.
