OWH Sketch 153 & SSC: Seeing Double

Julie is leaving as the OWH sketch queen and this is her final hooray.  Thank you Julie for working up some awesome sketches that got our mojo flowing!  Cannot wait to see what inspiration you will be working on next!

Card One:  First Attempt

Card One: Was not feeling the love for this card so I popped the turquoise square off , threw the rest out and came up with the redone version...

Card One:  Redone

So much better.

Card Two

Card Two I will be linking up to the Sweet Stampin' Challenge  "Seeing Double" this week.  Two bunnies, two purple strips, and two round brads meets the seeing double requirement.

Image is by Whoopsi Daisy and was free at one time.  It may be available in her shop.  Sentiment is by me using "When I Was Taller" font.

OWH Sketch #152

Love the sketch as always...but 3.5 scallops are out of my range unless I use the paper doilies...so I improvised.

I started making the airplane card first with a plan to make a robot card until I ran across the colored digi on my desk and I went with it.  Since I made a "boy" card I made a "girl" card while following the sketch more closely.  I used a MME journaling tag flipped to the back side to get the unique scallops on the second card. I ended up cutting the circle bigger so I did not have to deal with the hole.

ATCAS: Sweet

Addicted to CAS (if ya want to join in) is already on Challenge #3 with the code word being "Sweet".  Today I am home for a snow day so I took it as an great opportunity to play along.

Stickers are from "Farm Girl" by October Afternoon.  Papers by Cosmo Cricket, Stampin' Up, and the Paper Studio.  I am not sure about the kraft paper.

I have a thing for mason jars and nothing says love and sweetness like homemade jam.  Easy peasy.

OWH MWT: Red, White & Blue

This was another card I had in my OWH box that I pulled to share for this week's MWT color challenge.  The box need to be mailed out soon.  This paper is from a We R Memory Keepers 4x6 Yankee Doodles pad.  I adore the rainbow...so fun.

OWH Sketch #151

Fun sketch equals fun card.

DPs are from a pad made by Deja Views "Soda Pop".  Rub Ons by Basic Grey.  I am so happy that I remembered to add a punched border between the base pieces like some other card makers have for other sketches.  I even matted it to give it a little pop.  You cannot really see the border, but it does add a little something...

OWH MWT:

This was one of the cards I had already packed in my OWH box.  I decided I really wanted to share it so I pulled it out for this challenge.  Three punches were used; two on the flower and the other on the banner tails.  I just love my punches!!!  I even used some ribbon which is one of the most unloved supplies I own.  Hope your day is good!

OWH Sketch #150

Yippee! I am done with the American Craft 6x6 paper pad...I ended up with 43 total cards.  I finished the last ones late yesterday so I could move on to other paper today.  It was a good self-imposed challenge, that I will not be repeating, but glad for the experience.

Ovals are challenging for me...as I was looking around for some inspiration I went to Bird's Cards Blog and found this wonderful free oval sentiment.  Perfect!  I decided to make a masculine love card using stripes and metal squares.  Paper by MME.  I definitely need to make more of these.

OWH MWT: Love & Hugs

This is another Stamp Fairy digi.  I omitted a sentiment because I thought the hearts said it all.  Papers by American Crafts...the saga continues.

ATCAS: Bauble

Hello!  ATCAS Challenge #2 is Bauble.  Lucky for me that this digi stamp was just posted by Birds Cards.  Thank you Bird! Sentiment by CTMH.

I have to be honest that I cannot remember the last time I did not use any pattern paper on a card so this may be a first for me.  I think I will save this one for my dear Mom...purple is her favorite color.

OWH ODBD & Sketch #149

ODBD Challenge: Flowers
For those of you who are not regular followers you might have missed that I have a goal to use up one entire 6x6 paper pad (an OWH tutorial) before I can call it good.  My pad is by American Crafts and I am so ready to be done with it.  I did learn some things about my creative process as I went along.

ODBD Challenge: Sweet image by Dilly Beans and paper is AC.  Colored with Copics.

Sketch #149:  I started with a little piece of that AC pad. I added in some chevron that I made using some diagonal stripes cut into 1" strips and pieced together as well as Making Memories Wedding paper. Sentiment from Stampin' Up and image...well...I am not sure what clear stamp company made this one...  I did have a gray brad in the middle but it did not work for me so I colored it with Copics and thought it improved the card.  I wish I would have taken a photo before to compare.  Oh well....

SSC: Flowers

Sweet Stampin' Challenge is celebrating their 3rd Birthday with the theme of Flowers.  I also needed a birthday (tomorrow) card for my sweet mom who has been through alot the last two years.

Image is by Sandi's Samples and sentiment is Stampin' Up.  The base paper is MME and the banners are K&Co scraps.  I had purchased a new Liquid Pearls color set so I was generous with it.  I love the dimension it gave the flower.

OWH MWT: Winter Fun

A quick card for this week thanks to having my number drawn at  Sweet Stampin' Challenge.  I won some free digis from StampFairy.  I had picked this one specifically because I knew it would make great cards for OWH.  Paper from American Crafts (still working on using those up) and sentiment is computer generated.

I definitely need to make more of these for my box.

OWH Sketch #148

Fun easy sketch that I decided to flip.  Papers by American Crafts, no surprise there as I am still trying to use that pad up.  I have over 20 cards made so far, but I am so ready to move on to other papers.

Adorable image by Jane's Doodles colored with Copics.  Sentiment is computer generated. Twine by Studio G.  I did use my black Copics to outline my "tag" and give the illusion that it is matted.  That's all for now.

OWH MWT: Turquoise & Silver

This was actually a pretty quick card to put together.  I still am working on using up that AC paper pack, that luckily I had some scraps in turquoise to work with.  The chipboard butterfly (from Michael's dollar bin?) was colored using Liquid Pearls (painted on) and some colored inks (turquoise and black) on the edges so it would not blend in with the base.  Love this color combo!

AC Paper Pad Saga Continues...

Birdie Brown/Sweet Stampin'/Addicted to CAS Challenges
All cards use paper from an American Crafts paper pad.  I have challenged myself to use papers from this pad until it's gone (leave no scrap behind!).

Card 1:  Uses an image from Birdie Brown for her November Challenge.  I am also going to link it up to Sweet Stampin' Challenge as the theme is Snow People.  Also, there is a new challenge site: Addicted to CAS that requires few embellishments and lots of "white space".  With only one embellishment I think this card qualifies.  Their code word is Snow.

Card 2:  I used a Bugaboo Digi Stamp.  I chose one that could be turned in a love themed card for OWH if needed.
Sweet Stampin' Challenge

OWH #147
Card 3: I saw this sketch and knew it would be perfect for a CASE of one of Dixie's cards (Thanks Dixie!) that uses a banner die. My pad had an extra print on the other side of the perforated edge. When I was cutting the paper awhile back, I realized it would be perfect for this look. I normally would mat with black cardstock for some real pop, but gasp, I ran out. My delivery person (i.e. sister) has not dropped off a new pack for me. The sentiment is computer generated by me.

I did learn one thing from the 6x6 tutorial; I should not cut all the pad up in case I get bored with a sketch.  I had to find a matching red paper for card 3 because I did not have any pieces big enough for the sketch.

OWH MWT: Thank You

A quick card.  I am still working on the American Craft 6x6 pack and I am up to 18 cards.  The butterfly is a sticker from Martha Stewart and sentiment is computer generated.

Happy Hump Day!

SSC & OWH Cards

My first card was made for this week's "Anything Goes" theme at Sweet Stampin Challenge.  This uber adorable image can be found for free at Dilly Beans.  She was fun and challenging to color. Come play along!

For both cards in this post, I used paper from American Crafts that I found at Target (sorry...after I tore all the sheets out, I got rid of the cover)  I am trying the Kristie M 6x6 Paper pad tutorial that can be found at Operation Write Home.
This card was finished before I went to work this am.  Here I am linking it up and noticed that another card features this exact image from K&Company.  Great minds think alike!!!  I have been working on using these last few images up since Friday; three were left and worked well for the sketch.  I also used two eyelets to add some white floss and white fabric paint (fake liquid pearls).  I tweaked the sketch a little as I did not have a big enough print for the base...I always forget that one can do that.  Two more images to go...

OWH MWT & a Sympathy Card

This week's MWT theme is Red, White & Blue.  My card has a touch of black for a little added pop. I had purchased a couple of W R Memory Keepers 4x6 pad for albums for $1.00 each.  I used up the Yankee Doodles one and made 7 cards; pretty darn good for the money.  I love the visual energy of this line.
My second card will be hand delivered today as I remember a man that was like an uncle to me.  I do not make sympathy cards to have on hand because I use the process to reminisce on the person's life and my relationship with them.  It allows me time to grieve in the privacy of my home.

OWH Sketch #145

I am a little sad today...I learned that my LSS is closing and this was the place I learned to use my Copics...sigh...

A flip of the sketch and I had two easy cards made using brads on both but changing the paper.

Now, if it was just as easy to adapt to the new time would be that be great?

Playing catch-up...

MWT: Valentines
I had started the MWT card before I saw this week's OWHtv "four heart blah to wow" mini tutorial.  I decided to go ahead and finish my card anyway just because I got a crush on kraft and I was using more that 4 hearts.  : )

ODBD Challenge

I dusted off my Cricut to make a love card for this month's ODBD challenge.  In September we met the 50 cards in record time...but not so for October. The red ribbon put up a fuss so I added the white floss which just seems to be a great touch.

SSC: What's cooking?

I like to sometimes join the challenges over at Sweet Stampin' as a means to stretch my wings.  Many of the card makers really make use of embellishments and layers which is a real challenge to me.  I kinda like things simpler which is why I like to play.

This week's challenge has to do with food so I could not resist using this wonderful adorable image by Beary Wishes.

OWH Sketch #144

Just a quick post as I need to run some errands.  Did a flip of the sketch and made a card for the young at heart.  This adorable image is from Starry Nights Studio and can be found here.  I used Copics to color in some of it.  Have a great day!

OWH MWT: Friendship

I have had this sentiment piece floating around for awhile on my table and finally got around to using it.  Just using up some of my scraps.

Mailed out a few Christmas cards to my shipper today to meet the Wednesday 10/31 deadline.  Now I am back to making general cards.

OWH Sketch #143

Happy sunny Sunday!  Another great sketch and this week there is a prize attached from Tonic!

I decided to go patriotic and use some of the border stickers from my stash.  This is a great sketch to use some of those on and I have a few.  After that the card came together pretty easy peasy.

Gotta run!

OWH MWT: Anniversary

As I said in my yesterday's post, this card was started over a week ago...but I ended up putting it aside.  I wasn't sure if it needed a sentiment and other stuff.  After posting my card for this week's challenge, it was time to take some action and "git yer done".

I had purchased the kraft chipboard as part of a pack from Michael's so you may be seeing some butterflies at some point.  I love to use them on sympathy cards...they are a great symbol and so comforting.

OWH MWT: Black, White, and (Green or Red)

I used Sketch 142 for this card...I am totally in love with this one.  Way to go Julie!!!

Sentiment was created on the computer and is similar to one that was available for download from Papercrafts Magazine.  I could not figure out how to just print the one so I created my own.  I was a little concerned that the sentiment is wee bit too big...let me know what you think.  I gotta confess I am partial to computer sentiments...they are always straight(smile).

Last week I did not get around to posting my card for the Anniversary MWT.  I started it and got sidelined.  My plan is to go back and finish it so I can check it off my to-do list.

OWH Sketch #142

What a great day and sketch! We are getting some much needed rain, finally.   I love banners, so I started making a card but decided I did not love it, so I put it aside.

OWH WCMD Blog Hop Winner

I have to say what a hop...I just finished it yesterday!  Thanks to OWH for planning a great event!  I received a lot of love which always is inspiring.  *******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
I used Random.org and it picked lucky number 15 which was:

OWH Sketch #141, ODBD, and the Bonus...

Two awesome sketches this week (yay)..after a wonderful blog hop.  I have not made it all the way through as I am taking my time.  For those of you have asked, the Diamond shaped punch I used in my poinsettia card was made by Emagination Crafts Inc; I was lucky to have found it at a fall scrapbooking secondhand sale.

I am so proud of myself on this first card...I used my embossing machine and 4 stamps. When I was adding the smaller circle to the base I forgot that the two circles overlapped each other...not that it is a big deal that I didn't...I guess I was in a zone. I also second generation stamped some of the circles for a little added contrast...have not done that like in forever! I am also linking this card up to the October ODBD challenge: Circles.

I absolutely adore this image by Elizabeth O. Dulemba at Coloring Page Tuesdays which can be found here.  After I colored him, I fussy cut (what was I thinking?) and put him on some fun paper.  Memories of the excitement of watching holiday tv programs were triggered by this one.  Remember when you had to wait a whole year to see a classic rather than being able to pop it in anytime for your viewing pleasure?
