OTWC Challenge #52

I used a digistamp from Handmade by Paul for this card. The link will be at the end of this post. I love her stuff! I made the sentiment on the computer. I had a little trouble with this card coming together, mostly because of size. I think this is the first square card I have made. I really wanted to buy some bakers twine and dummy (lucky) me had some in a mixed findings pack.

OWH MWT Any Hero Challenge

The challenge this week is Any Hero cards! If you are new to OWH you might be wondering what Any Hero cards are -Each of our boxes of blank cards is topped off with a bag of "AnyHero" mail. These are cards and letters from people across America with messages of gratitude and encouragement inside. We call them "AnyHero" letters because they're going to be given out by our contacts to those who get little or no mail.

Unfortunately I do not send many Any Hero cards in my boxes; so I took this challenge very seriously. There is a wonderful free digi available to use here: http://www.owhstarsandstamps.org/2011/04/anyhero-card-sentiment-back-by-popular.html.

I decided that I wanted to make a colorful card so I started with the gold hounds tooth from CTMH that was hiding in my stash. I was digging for a great Thank You and got the idea that I could stamp the base paper in a subway art style. Found the journaling block from some leftovers, colored some chipboard letters and voila' it was done. Clean and Simple! Not as colorful as I had planned when I started, but I am very happy with it. The sun is shining today so I am happy about that as well!

OWH Sketch #66

Happy Easter! A quick card while waiting for my ham and party potatoes to bake. No stamping; however a little bit of inking for this guy card! Love these K& Company papers. Has a sticker in my stash that worked perfect with this, so passed on stamping an image or sentiment. Fun sketch--Great for using strips up.

OTWC #51 Second Card

A very simple card with and easy solution to coloring a very cute digistamp from Little Scraps of Heaven. I am putting the link at the bottom of this post. I did piece some dp in as the egg, and added a very sweet bow. Do you ever look at a picture and see things in a new light? When I saw this card as a picture I wished I had matted the image.

OWH-MWT Monochromatic Challenge

A monochromatic theme? Yes, I can do this! The base paper is from K&Company Eloise pack I bought on clearance. It was a great investment! I did make a fork ribbon which did not turn out too bad for a first try. I decided to edge the sentiment with the scalloped ribbon as well and back that with a plain paper to enhance the scallops. There are four layers of paper; it would have worked for last week's MWT. Sentiment from Michael's - Hampton Art. I am definitely going to make a couple more.

OTWC-Challenge #51

The theme for this challenge is Easter Fun. This little duck a digistamp from Clear Dollar Stamps was supposed to end up on the cards I had planned to make for my "peeps", but have not made them yet. It doesn't really feel like spring is here except the grass is green. The card reminds me of growing up on the farm-we had everything including cute baby ducks. Papers mostly by K&Company.

OWH-Sticker Skip

Wasn't the Sticker Skip great? I loooove the skips because they are not so overwhelming, time friendly, and I have dial-up. Here are some sticker cards I made after the OWH Saturday Seminar on "Focal Point". After the skip, I would like to go back and make a few changes to a couple of cards, but overall they are not too shabby.

OWH Sketch Challenge #65

I turned this sketch on it's side to make an vertical card. I had purchased the stamp quite awhile back and had not ever used it. However, I found the matching paper at Michael's last Friday evening and was inspired to dig it out. I love the paper airplane paper; such fresh colors and whimsical. I also stamped the ribbon with matching ink. It originally was white cotton twill. I tied a "cheater" bow and stamped the cheater piece on both sides to make it easier to tie. With this ribbon you could stamp almost anything on it or mist spray (something I have yet to try). I have been trying to steer myself towards card themes for men or kids.

OWH MWT-Layers

The challenge this week is "Layers!"; to make cards for our heroes to send home to their friends and loved ones using 2 or more layers. Well, doesn't that gives all of us quite a bit of leeway? I did take this challenge to heart and made three cards, but only one survived due to a inky tragedy and my need to take advantage of this cute stamp. I realized that I could use optical illusion to my advantage. I had made my "good" card with a circle cut out and had backed it with a print but then the "disaster" occurred and I re-made the card using a circle of print to provide the "illusion" that there is a window. Usually I am not so picky on my cards, but I had a vision and alot of determination. It looks like a baby Tony the Tiger. Papers by K&Company and In My Mind's Eye. Stamp by Anita's.

OWH Sketch #64

I kinda feel like I cheated because I did not stamp anything for this challenge. I was inspired by the scallops from my previous post and make it "manly". I used my 1 inch square punch and cut them on the diagonal. That punch is one of the best investments I ever made! I also turned the sketch on it's side which I almost never do. Most of the paper is from ADORNit and I bought it expecially for OWH cards awhile back, but set it aside and prompty forgot about it.

OTWC-Challenge #50 (2)

Since I still had time I thought I would make a second card for this challenge, well actually I made two. The one without glitter is going to go in my OWH bundle if I can bear to part with it. The tag is from K&Company, the sentiments are Hampton Art Kelly Panacci. I cannot decide which one I love the best, because I really like gingham and scallops and they are not on the same card. I forgot that I could make an easy scalloped border out of half circles until I saw a card with them. Isn't it funny how you forget some very easy creative techniques.

OWH MWT--Father's Day

In the back of my mind I knew this soon would be a MWT Challenge theme, but I was not really prepared. Luckily I has some stuff in my stash. The 3-D stickers I reduced in height by removing a level, either on the top or bottom depending on which one was easier. The dad chipboard letters were originally covered in glitter. I peeled off the top layer and then stamp the argyle pattern on top. I really like how it turned out. The background paper is from In My Mind's eye and is double-sided, which makes coordinating a breeze. I do not usually make vertical cards, but the fish one was almost too easy with the exception of the Dad.

OWH-Sketch #63

Sunday was my Monday at work, so my week has been a little crazy. I used Cosmo Cricket paper for this challenge. I love their stuff! I wasn't feeling totally inspired and had a really hard time with the embellie. I thought I could paper piece a bird to use as one, but it was just too busy. I think it is starting to grow on me...

OTWC-Challenge #50

Well I really worked hard on this challenge. I knew I wanted to use the bird stamp I had recently purchased. I decided to stamp it on different papers and paper piece it together. The background paper is from K&Company. The actual size of this card is 5"x7", so it will not be going to OWH. I had offered to make a batch of cards for a local fundraiser. I was planning on making at least 20-30 and put them in the greeting card holder I had purchased from my most favorite dollar store to put them all in.
