OWH-MWT K-9 Challenge

I almost missed the challenge with being so busy at work and a lot of stuff on my mind. I love dogs, even though I only own one and she is a sweetie. Sorry, I could not resist sharing a picture with you. Shivers is a vizsla, a breed that almost died out until WWII; soldiers fell in love with their sweet nature and brought them to the US.

The first card is one I had already made for OWH but had not shared. That first Saturday Seminar gave me some great ideas for how to make small stickers work. They are great for kids cards.

The second card I made specifically for this challenge. It is pretty simple, not alot of layers. The paper was already "quilted"; part of "Just Chillin" by Making Memories. Got really lucky and scored 2 of these packs of 36 designer papers for just a dollar. I do not usually put the sentiment in the upper right corner, but it the dog points that way so it works that way. Great to break out once in a while!

OWH Sketch Challenge #62--Special Edition

Happy Birthday Sandy! Three sketches=Three cards. Almost an aerobic workout on a Sunday Morning. Most papers are from K&Company "Hopscotch". All cards are designed for a young man. I did use one of Frantoonies as the focal point on the sketch #62 card. I have no Copics in my stash and do not color much. The sketch is designed to use a large Frantoonie and due to lack of coloring skills, I decided to go small. I did manage to review Seminar #2 on Texture and Dimension. Picked up some more great tips. Now I can't wait to see the video that goes along with it.

Picture Frame Redo

I made this frame in February for Clete to celebrate his 84th Birthday! He really doesn't look that old, especially for what he has been though. I kept it very simple so the names would be the focal point. The black rub-ons embellishments were just enough to finish it.

OWH Cards 4 Kids MWT Challenge

I am starting to think I must be just a wee bit psychic (or is it psychotic) because I have been working on some cards for kids to mail out to my shipper. I had bought some Cinderella stickers and some floral paper that went great together. Those cards I had already made last week. I also purchased a set of Cars motion stickers that I thought would be great for boys. I had wished that I had matted the sticker with black paper, so I had to improvise by drawing a black box. It is not perfect but I like the look.

Now for two of Cinderella cards! Ta-dah!!!

OTWC Challenge # 49

I made two cards for this challenge, partly because I could not chose which way to go. The first card is made from "inchies". I really like the playful mix of patterns.
The second card I wanted to keep clean and simple to let the ribbon be part of the focal point. How lucky to have ribbon that would go great with Wilson Designs gnome stamp set. How unlucky of me not to have that very same stamp set. Uhmm, how can I fix that?...

OWH Sketch Challenge #61

Clean and Simple! I was lucky to score the Actopus to Zelephant chipboard set from K&Company at a local dollar store. I bought 2 sets and plan to use one just for OWH cards. Gotta love anything with animals!

I like that this card can be utilized for a variety of occasions. After all, what does "Woof!" really mean?

Sympathy Card

I had an uncle pass away this week. The only up-side is I was able to reconnect with his children. I was making this card for no particular reason and then decided it would make a great sympathy card, particularly since he liked to grow things and spend time in nature. I really like how the hot pink flourishes on the yellow paper provide a great placement for the rose and some dimension. Since the butterflys were the same color as the rose, I inked the edges and popped them out. I am sorry for terrible picture, it was taken before the sun popped out.

MWT Challenge--Scallops

The challenge this week is Scallops! The challenge is to make cards for our heroes to send home to their loved ones using scallops, you could use scalloped circle or square punches, Spellbinders dies, scalloped border punches and dies, etc.

Well I started down one path and was searching for a scalloped stamp, which I found but then I realized I had recently purchased some scalloped ribbon from Michaels. I had seen some scalloped ribbon on a retro art project and thought it would be really cool to have. Guess I was right. No stamping on this card. Most of the paper is Amy Butler including the sentiment. The cloud paper is Actopus to Zelephant. I like the touch of whimsy it added to the card. It is going to be hard to give this one away...

OWH Sketch #60

Hello all! The last time OWH had a inchie sketch I swore I was going to buy a 1" square punch with a coupon from Michaels. Well I spied another punch that I decided I needed more; I am sure you have been there and done that! I was mentally kicking myself today as soon as I saw this sketch!

I had gotten these stamps out for another project and did not use them. They are by EK Success. I did stamp white footballs on the blue textured cardstock, they stand out more than what shows up in the photo.

I have to say I really like this card much more than I thought I was going to when I was grunging the inchies. I do love football!

Scrapbook Layout

I ran across a picture of my niece's 2010 Prom layout. Yes, I do scrapbook, although lately my time is spent making cards. I may have to put that on hold as we need to get ready for graduation. It is very simple but blingy. Gotta have bling for the special stuff! The picture with the blue frame was altered in Picnik which is free to use unless you want to upgrade.

OWH-MWT Going Dotty

The challenge this week is to make cards for our heroes to send home to their loved ones using polka dots, it could be polka dotted papers, embossing, etc.

The image is a digistamp from Clear Dollar Stamps. Isn't it the sweetest thing? Already made several Spring cards for OWH using it, and need to get started on cards for my friends soon. I will be visiting the USPS tomorrow to mail cardsso they arrive before the 18th to my shipper! Have a great day tomorrow.

OWH Sketch #59

I was so excited to see Holley featured on this week's sketch. Way to go Holley! I decided to break out the Cosmo Cricket paper I won on the Moxie Fab World Blog. I have been trying to use more stamps on my cards, so I stamped the
ribbon in addition to the sentiment.
I embossed the black using my cutter as a guide and then sanded. I know you can buy sanders for scrapbooking, but I like to use the four-sided nail filers, they are super cheap at the dollar stores.
I think this would make a great "anything, anyone" card. Unfortunately, I cut the background paper short, so I had to add a piece at the bottom. I must have been dizzy from hopping which I am still trying to get through. Measure twice and cut once. I should make that into a sign for myself. Have a great day!

OTWC Challenge #48

I am annoyed that I missed the OWH Mother's Day Card Challenge, but it was a long week of working late. It was kinda a goal of mine to not miss a OWH challenge even though I did not start it on Jan 1st.
I made three cards before I made one that I liked and actually had the colors of the challenge. The picture is not good but after the third try of making a card to fit the challenge, I am tired. Plus I have been trying to go through the OWH Spring Blog Hop. I have dial-up so it can be a struggle, oh well, it is what it is!
I decided to leave the second card on the posting because I really liked it. The paper from both cards is from K&Company. The flower is from my stash and the butterfly brad from Paper Studio.
