OTWC #58

The colors for this challenge are Navy and Coral. I was trying to search for a little visual inspiration when I ran across a card of a man's striped dress shirt. I then decided to use this wonderful digi designed by Yolanda Derstine http://yolanda-imaginemakeshare.blogspot.com and print it out on the striped paper. I fussy cut the image and and very lightly inked the edges to cover up the white edges then popped it out with foam. Added coral jute and stamped the sentiment from CTMH. Tonight is a fundraiser for a friend who had a motorcycle accident and I need a get well card. Wah-la, it's done!

OWH MWT--Water

I cheated a little this week because this card was already in my OWH stack. I used this great sticker from the makingmemories Panorama pack. I was a little cautious on posting this card because of the sentiment but I thought it could used as a Happy Birthday card or some other manly thing. Sometimes I over think things. A card made from scrap paper, now that makes me happy.

Baker's twine is one of my new fav things, but I cannot really justify the cost to have it in all colors. I got this jute (4 colors) for $1 and it works perfectly on this card! Sometime I am going to use black leather cording...won't that be interesting.

OWH Sketch Challenge #79

The paper quilt you see here was put together with inchies. It is a great way to use scraps; but mostly I love the look. I wanted to quilt to stand out hence all the plain paper. All papers were dug out of my HUGE scrap box. Sometime I feel like I could make a zillion cards and barely touch it. The sentiment is by makingmemories FALALA epoxy shape.

OTWC #57

Here is the inspiration photo for the beach theme challenge.

Just using some more scraps. I did print the image out on white and kraft and then creatively cut the umbrella out of the kraft so I would not have to color and to give it a little visual depth. I made a simple sentiment up on my computer because I may want to send it in my OWH donation box. The font really adds to the party feel. The digistamp can be found here: http://beyondthefringecrafts.blogspot.com/2011/07/tiki-time.html.

OWH MWT Cards 4 Kids

I think I like to make cards for kids most of all. The children that have their parents serving overseas are making a really big sacrifice and deserve the best.

I ran across these sock monkey stickers at Target. My baby sister is a sock monkey freak so I did not hesitate on purchasing them. I will making one of these for her birthday in August.

I dug in deep in my scrap piles of papers to get some used up. The sentiment was made on my computer and then colored with yellow marker. If you have any suggestions of other sentiments related to monkeys just leave them in a comment. Thanks for your help!

OWH Sketch #78

What a great sketch! I think that because there appeared to be some great mojo flowing based upon the cards that have already been linked up on the Stars & Stamps blog.

I used all scraps on the "all star" card. I liked it so much I decided to try making it into a Christmas card. I was not trying to case a specific card, but it kinda reminds me of cards made by Ingrid Danvers. She seems to use the star shape quite a bit.

OWH MWT Miss You

I had seen a card I really liked on the OWH Memorial Weekend Bloghop where someone had created a wonderful background out of a sentiment and that is where I decided to go with this card. I still have not had time to purchase a new photo card so scanning was the only way to go and because of the brad it looks a little funny...but you get the general idea. I really like the graphic look of this card, so I may make several in the near future.

OWH Sketch Challenge #77

Hip Hip Hooray! I got to use my circle border punch! On a sad note, my trusty photo card went bad so I now have to buy a replacement. Thus I had to scan this card for the upload and it is not very flattering to the card.

A Christmas card seemed the easy to go on because of the Beat the Heat card drive. I used some of my BasicGrey Eskimo Kisses paper pad and a couple of scraps to add to it. The sketch has three embellishments on the side so I used the sentiment for that. I really wanted to get some more blue on the card and it seems to pop on the cranberry papers.

Sandy's Blogaversary Card

Sandy requested masculine or unisex cards for her blogaversary celebration. I think this qualifies. I used scrap (striped) and BAZZILLBASICSPAPER that was already embossed for me. I just love embossed paper. I used 3 labels from makingmenories Paranormal and 2 stars from my stash.

I needed something easy today!

OWH MWT Christmas in July

I had a feeling that Christmas would be this week's challenge because of the "Beat the Heat" card drive due at the end of July. Last year I had made some Christmas cards, but never got them mailed in by the deadline because I was quite wrapped up with my dear husband's knee replacement recovery (at the ripe old age of 46). I had mailed them off in late spring because there was room in the box, but now could really use them. I am not quite in the Christmas spirit yet!

I have a wonderful mat stack of Christmas prints from DCWV and decided to make a "sunburst" Christmas card. Do those really go together? I guess in July they do! I did use 1" strips for the cuts which allowed for more prints.

The sentiment is from Hampton Arts-one of the foot-longs. The next one I make will have some twine and maybe a "button".

The Party Is Over...

I thought about using the same card for the last two challenges, but since I was caught up I went for making a new one. Linda wants us to use Bears and Hearts....check out the challenge at her blog, Scrappin Bears! Here it is...

and more cards...

I am laughing at myself because I thought I was finally caught up...until the next challenge pops up! No, I accidently skipped the bear one. I am so looking forward to go back though and look at everyone's work, there is going to be some great inspiration!

The first card is for the "Howl at the Moon" - go get the details on Marianne's blog, Petunia's Paper Passion!

Color Me Crazy challenge at My Craft Central.

Sarah's idea to have a Foody or Fruity Fourth - check it out on her blog, Sarah's Stamping and Stuff!

OWH 4th of July Party Challenge #10

I cannot believe that I am almost caught up. Got 2 out of 12 left. It is like running a marathon; ya gotta learn to pace yourself.

Sandy's challenge: 1 stamp = 2 cards.

I decided to do the boy card/girl card thing

More Virtual Party Cards...

Three cards for three of the challenges. Still thinking on the Howl at the Moon Challenge.

OWH 4th of July Party Challenge #9

The challenge on Patricia Hays Thinking of Inking blog is easy as 1, 2, 3...

1 piece of designer paper

2 different images (any combination of rubber stamps, digital images, or die cuts is OK, but you can’t use more than two distinct images)

3 or more words in the sentiment, which must be shown on the card front (the sentiment does NOT count as one of the two images)

PS. I was going to use a heart for one of the stamped images, but decided to use a star to add a little fun.

1 Card = 3 OWH Challenges

How do you catch up on challenges? You make one card that works for three of them. This card uses Sketch # 76; also works for Holley's Hobbies Vintage Card Challenge and Scrappily Ever After Americana...Picture Inspiration. Gotta love it when a plan comes together!

OWH 4th of July Party Challenge #3

It is not often that I make OWH with flowers, but my mojo has waned and I took the easy way out.

Actually this card took 2x longer than the other two put together only because I redid parts of it several times because of technical difficulties. Oh well...

OWH 4th of July Party Challenge #2

The theme for this challenge is a fish bowl. I looked at what others had done so far and put on my thinking hat. I came up with the idea of using a punched circle with the top cut off which I turned into the base. I knew I had something from Cosmo Cricket that had a fish and it fit perfectly into the bowl. The sentiment was with the fish; it is kinda silly and fun!

OWH 4th of July Party Challenge #1

I am going to take this vitual party 1 card and 1 post at a time. Not sure how far I will get but here we go...

The first theme is camouflage. I had two choices. I chose the blue one because it was a better scale for a card. Did a little looking at the ideas I have saved and scraplifted an idea for this card. No stamping; just a lot of cutting, punching and brads!

On to the next...
