OWH Sketch #142

What a great day and sketch! We are getting some much needed rain, finally.   I love banners, so I started making a card but decided I did not love it, so I put it aside.

I went back to Kathryn's sample cards and decided I really liked the ones using two papers for the banners rather than three better.  I also liked the banners with a little matting.  So that is how I came up with my second attempt card.

I then went back and did a little makeover on my first attempt and matted the overall card to make it more eye appealing.

The chipboard sentiments are ones that I had purchased last year and want to get used up.  I have not made many Christmas cards for OWH and I have a week before I need to get them in the mail.  Now they are talking about Valentine's Day cards and I have yet to wrap my mind around the idea of Christmas! Wowsers!

  1. The top card is my favorite, too, Linda. The brown borders bring out the brown in the sentiment. Thanks for sharing your thought process when it came to using multiple papers. I like symmetry, so I think that's why I made two of my samples with the outer strips the same papers and only one sample with three different papers.

I didn't send that many Christmas cards this year. I tend to stick with year round sentiments so that I can mail boxes whenever they are full and not worry as much about deadlines. Plus, Christmas paper just doesn't inspire me like most other paper! If we all do what we like and what we are best at, I think our heroes will get the best possible cards!

  2. So pretty! I like them both but like you I decided that the extra matting really adds a nice touch! Wow, I think that I have some of those dimensional sentiment things from last year too.. They are so pretty on your cards! I'll have to see if I can dig mine out! :)

  6. I think they're both great, love all the papers, but agree that the matting pops them more. I put matting on my second card, and liked it enough to redo my first. And I wish I'd studied Kathyrn's more carefully -- my eyes tend to blur and I get a little dizzy when I see many papers on a sketch, lol -- or I would've stuck with just two papers, too.

  7. Great cards, and I love the DP you used. But, the first is my favorite too. I agree with you, the matting really makes the DP pop and adds definition. I did the same thing with mine.
