It's Sunday...which means I get to try out a new sketch...totally makes my day! I started with the chipboard squares that just seemed perfect after yesterday's Animal Puns BlogSkip with the new stamps from Stampers Best. The chipboard squares are Colorbok Friendly Forest which just seemed to work with the papers by DCWV Green Stack. I decided to add an extra mat layer to make them more cohesive. I hardly ever see eyelets used anymore but I do like them so I use them. The SU sentiment works so well with my tag punch which I like to double.
I have recently read some comments from potential OWH cardmakers is that they don't have all the cool tools so they do not feel that they can make OWH worthy cards. Those comments struck a chord within me because I believe that they can! I definitely do not have all the tools and I love to mix it up. It is great that OWH spends energy and resources to help us all grow as cardmakers. Take advantage of those resources...
Really cute card! I also like eyelets - it's great to see them used. They add a nice bit of shine and no bulk.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right! Creativity makes the card, not the tools. Love how you tied your colors together.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet card! Love the red layer and how it makes the critters really pop. And great use of eyelets. I think we have all gotten so used to brads, we forget about our stash of eyelets.
ReplyDeleteYou are right; we can be very creative in how we make cards! I like your card wtih that cute twine and tag!
ReplyDeleteDarling card! I love how the red owl and deer make the green frog pop! the two little tags hanging for the sentiment are cute too!
ReplyDeleteTFS your encouraging thoughts on cardmaking. I know you're on the right path, because a great card can be created without all those pricey tools. I love your card today patterned after yesterday's hop! NJ!
ReplyDeleteVery cute. I too love the twine and the little tags.
ReplyDeleteI love that you used eyelets! I have a ton and have not used them in a long time---adds a nice touch to your card. And your little critters are so sweet! Great advice about not needing all the tools.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I've used just about every piece of my DCWV Green Stack and love how you put these patterns together with the little animals.
ReplyDeleteLove the way you created the sentiment on the tags, and those animals are so cute! And you're right, you don't need a lot of fancy tools, thanks for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for your comments on my 40-tude card. The birds are from a 4 piece Hero Arts set I got ages ago (red rubber on wood style). I have no idea if they make it any more.
Hi Linda! Your card is awesome!! Those little die cuts are perfect with the Green Stack (one of my faves). FYI, the ribbon I used is one I've had awhile but it's marked "Buy-The-Spool", Wyla Inc., Jacksonville, FL. I'm pretty sure I bought it at my LSS, Angela's Happy Stamper in VA.
ReplyDeleteSunday sketches make my day too! Those are some really cute images and nice job with replacing the bow with string and tag! Super nice!
ReplyDeleteLove love your little critters, makes me want to look forthe little stamps! Very nice focal points! TFS !
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet card! Of course, some of my favorite color combo (green/red/brown), lol. Thanks also for the encouragement. It's been while since I've really made cards and I've been hesitant because I'm "behind" on the tools, too. That was very thoughtful!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda! I am working on the bootcamp class for April and want to ask if I can have your permission to use this card as a sample. Could you drop me an email at paula at operationwritehome dot org just to let me know it's okay? Thanks!
