OWH MWT: Recipe Mix

The recipe: 1 Embossing Folder, 1 Border Punch or Die, 2 Patterned Papers, and 1 Ribbon or Twine.  Great card recipe!  I used one of my new Studio G stamps that just seemed perfect for OWH cards...and had letters that can be colored or fussy cut.  Cutting seemed to be the way to go as I just love the polka dots in the sentiment.

OWH Sketch 161

My mojo has been taking a little siesta today; I started on this sketch this am and finally finished a card I am happy with.   I also had to work in between the start and finish but that usually doesn't bother me.

Okay...so I realize that those big brads take away from the focal point (sentiment) but they remind me of antique shoe buttons.  Sentiment is based upon a digi by Paulette at TLC.  I downloaded her freebie, but there was a problem and all I got was black.  In the words of Charlie Brown aaarrrggghhh! So I created my own sentiment...not as pretty as Paulette's but it works.

Moxie Fab World: The Camera Craze

I could not resist linking up to this fun challenge.  I was super inspired by Jaclyn Miller's card which was featured on Moxie Fab World.  Her uber fabby card got my mind working overtime.  I decided I could make little cameras using a couple of metal accents & some black and silver cardstock.  Sentiment is by Hero Arts.  Some twine to add a little interest.

OWH MWT: Fun Fold

This is my first attempt at a fun fold card.  Unfortunately, it doesn't lay flat (maybe velcro?).  The image is by Cre8tive Hands.  I thought I needed to practice coloring a few images as I have taken a break.  I might need to check out a tutorial just to make sure of some of the deets.

Boot Camp: Focal Point

I decided to take a different approach to this month's Boot Camp topic: Focal Point.  I decided to pull out two scrap cards I had made using Dixie's Triple Time matting.  The top card has a much stronger focal point (sentiment) than the second...but I want to hear what Paula has to say.

VCMP Day 2

Challenge #3: Selective Embossing

Third time is a charm...well not really...I am not feeling alot of love for this card but it is my best effort.

Challenge #7:  Caffeine

I really like the image with the sentiment stamped on the same piece...I am not sure if there is a better placement...any suggestions to improve?  Not sure who the maker of the stamp set is...I bought them used with no packaging. Papers are from the scrap pile.

Challenge #8

I cheated on this card...no Washi to be found...so I used ribbon that I had purchased at the same time as the pad.  Paper is MME; digi by Paula.

Challenge #9: All White & 3 Layers

Okay...I misread the instructions...I wrapped the ribbon 3x...oops!  Shhh...All white cards scare the heck out of me!

Challenge #10:  Glitz & Glam without Glitter

This card was so easy it scared me.  The sticker already had the bling.  I was going to add ribbon or twine but I did not like the look so I skipped it.

I had so much fun this weekend...another successful VCMP!  Thanks to Allison for putting it all together!

VCMP Day 1

Challenge #1:  Zig Zag your cards!

#1:  I layered three CTMH stickers, flowers, brads and letter stickers to make this card.  Base paper is MME.

Challenge #2: All Creatures Great and Small

#2: Image courtesy of Misty. Papers are from the scrap pile (7 Gypsies)...sentiment is a sticker (The glitter paw was removed for safety reasons). The nose area is popped out with foam tape. A store run for printer ink is needed to I can reprint the image for this card.

#3: I am still thinking on that one...

Challenge #4:  Things with Wings

#4: Uses DCWV chipboard and scraps. Sentiment is computer generated.

Challenge # 5: Disappearing Act with Sketch 63

#5 Leslie's math is perfect... I used Paula's free sentiment. If you are new to OWH, please check her freebies out, they are designed with OWH in mind. One can use a variety of items for the O; I used a flower/brad combo for one and decided to make all the rest with a paper button. I now have 6 cards for Mother's Day. Paper is from a Prima pad.

OWH Sketch #160

Oh I had so much fun creating this card.  Thanks Samantha for an awesome sketch and super cute sample! I started out with this Studio G bike stamp that I had picked up from Walmart.  I was saving it to make a second card for my challenge in the President's Day VCMP "Things with Wheels".  To ground the image I used Copics to add grass (I did that before the stamping to avoid smears) and fussy cut some clouds.  To make space for a bow, I added the sentiment to the scene.  The blue cloud and sentiment are both popped out.  Gotta run, I am still trying to play catch up as I was gone most of yesterday.

OWH President's Day VCMP: Things with Wheels

Welcome to my blog for the OWH President's Day VCMP 2013!  Hope you are having a wonderful time.  The VCMP is my favorite format...a lot of inspiration and super interative.  My DH is a gearhead so one of my suggestions was "Things With Wheels".  My card (loosely based upon OWH Sketch 153) is made using an image from Whimsie Doodles.  Before I printed it out I added the sentiment to the bumper.  It is colored it with Copics Y13, Y15, Y17, C1, C3, C5, T9 & B000. To add a little dimension to the headlights I added clear epoxy circles.  The tire tracks are from CTMH Cruisin'.

Blog Candy Alert:  I have two stamp sets to give away to two random luckies who leave their email address in their comment (the safe way) by Midnight Central Time Friday, February 22, 2013.

I cannot wait to see your wheels...

OWH MWT: State Colors

The Iowa State flag is Red, White & Blue with a touch of brown.  I decided to raid the scrap pile for some inspiration and found this shape that needed a little finishing up.  I popped out my computer generated sentiment and ran the ribbon underneath and tied on a bow.  I love how it seems to underline the Thank You.  Easy Peasy!

Sewing Jar

This sweet image is a freebie by Birdie Brown.  I fussy cut papers from MME A Mother's Love to create this year's Mother's Day card...it just seemed to fit.  This image brings back memories of finding my grandma's button tin and sorting through for all the pearl ones because that those were my favorites.  Sentiment is computer generated.  I will also be linking this card up to the  Sweet Stampin' Challenge Blog Pearls & Swirls.

ATCAS #6: Candy

While I was working on my entry, I ran into a little trouble (I was going to paper piece)...but I kept trying and finally ended up with this card.  Image is by  Whimsie Doodles "Valen-tinis".   Base paper is American Crafts With Love.  If you want to join in the fun, please go here:  Addicted to CAS

OWH Sketch #159

I just love Carol's cards...The sample for this sketch was a great one!  I, however, decided to take a slightly different route.  Image is by Whimsie Doodles, one of the "Valen-tinies". I decided that I need to make a few V-day cards for the "kids" in my life...so I started with this one for my niece at Aquinas in Michigan.  Base paper is from American Crafts With Love.  Only 5 more to go!

OWH MWT: Cards for Kids

I already had two cards in my box that I really liked and wanted to share and are perfect for this week's challenge.  Both are two of my scrap cards from January.  The first features some stickers that needed to be used or pitched.  The square that they are grounded on is some sort of window thing that I kept as one piece.   I smile because giraffes really do not live in a jungle, but a "its a safari out there" really doesn't have the same punch.  Someone on FB asked if stickers are okay for OWH cards...I say yes they are.  The second card has one of those little journaling images that come on a big sheet...I am so addicted to those...this one is by Cosmo Cricket.

OWH Sketch #158

The sample for this week's sketch was certainly a fun one...I was hoping the person would fess up.  I just love the hip fun feel it had to it.   I finished my one month of using nothing but scrap dps very successful.  I purged a bunch of paper and started sorting though other piles...finding more scraps...eeek!  I rewarded myself with purchasing more paper...I am not sure what I was thinking when I did that.  The paper featured on both these cards is by Basic Grey; one of my new pads.  Not sure where the sticker is from on the first card...it is a dimensional one that I removed one layer of foam to make it better for mailing.  The second card was created more in the spirit of the fabulous sample card...kinda fun.  The "news flash" is by Pink Paislee which I was lucky enough to win but had not been inspired to ink up.  The "missing you" is by Paper Smooches.

OWH ODBD: Fruit

The theme of the February OWH ODBD challenge is Fruit.  I decided to used this apple paper from K&Company as my base.  The brown doily and sentiment are rub-ons from Basic Grey.  I added the brown rectangle to tone down the apple paper and ground the doily and sentiment.  A few brads thrown in for some added interest.
